Bio

Sunny Kolekar is an artist, designer, illustrator, visual communicator, and researcher with a deep interest in folklore, craft, art, culture, Indian textiles, and history. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (Applied Art) from JJ School of Art and a Master’s in Design (Visual Communication) from IDC, IIT Bombay. 

 

After completing his formal education, Sunny contributed to IDC IIT Bombay as a design researcher for the project E-Kalpa – Digital learning environment for design in India. Mr. Sunny also worked with Good Earth as a storybook illustrator, where he brought narratives to life through his illustrations, blending traditional and contemporary styles, which reflected his passion for storytelling and his ability to convey complex cultural themes through visual art. 

 

Mr. Sunny has also co-founded two design labels, NIRVIKALPA and KASAV By Nirvikalpa, which are dedicated to promoting a holistic lifestyle, sustainable eco-living, and slow fashion. 

 

Mr. Sunny began his academic career by teaching at the National Institute of Design Madhya Pradesh (NIDMP). Through his teaching, he aims to inspire and mentor the next generation of designers, sharing his extensive knowledge and fostering a deep appreciation for visual culture and design principles.
